AI prompts that can make the work easier – without compromising quality

Many organizations are experimenting with generative AI, but the challenge often lies in finding the right prompts to make these tools truly valuable in day-to-day work. Kevan Lee, co-founder of the newsletter Around the Bonfire, has compiled five practical methods to help structure work more efficiently:

  1. Meta prompting – Use AI to suggest the best prompt based on an outcome you’re already satisfied with. This creates shortcuts for recurring tasks like reports, meeting notes, and research.
  2. Start with the basics – Define the role AI should play (e.g., “analyst” or “copywriter”), provide clear instructions on tone, length, and format, and include examples.
  3. Build in voice and tone – AI can learn an organization’s communication style, making drafts for emails or presentations more consistent.
  4. Give it time – Asking AI to “take its time” reduces the risk of rushed or inaccurate responses in complex analyses.
  5. The AI sandwich – The human starts with the idea, concept, and direction. AI contributes with drafts, variations, or structural suggestions, and the human then edits and refines, ensuring the final result is authentic and aligned with the vision.

 

According to McKinsey, 78% of global companies have already implemented AI in at least one business process. So, the question is no longer whether the technology is being used, but how to use it most effectively.
